Zorbas Island is a resort in Kokkini Hani, Crete that is open all year around and plans active excursions. Zorbas Island consists of 21 houses all painted in white blue Greek style. You can either have an apartment with a terrace or balcony. These are meant for 4 persons, there is a house for 6 people. Then next to these apartments, Zorbas also has various locations you can stay.
Zorbas itself is located in Kokkini Hani which is 3 km from Gouves, 9 km from Analipsi and 15 km from Hersonissos. It lies on a hill with the pool at the bottom of the slope and each house above the other one. You have a great view on the sea beach and Dia Island. Zorbas has a pool, which is already mentioned but next to the pool they also have a tavern, barbecue and bar. Zorbas has special gyros/barbecue evenings, so you have to check those out. Halfway up the hill there is a garden where they organize games for the kids.
Of course there is a terrace where you can sit and enjoy your meal. Food on Zorbas is half board so the breakfast and dinner buffet are included. If you want lunch you can go to the restaurant and order what you want, if we have it. If you are not in the mood for food then you can also relax on the terrace/ in the tavern with a good Wi-Fi connection. Do not worry; the connection is strong enough to reach your house. Password can be asked for at the bar.
It can also be that you do not go to Zorbas to relax. Well no problem, Zorbas owners Erik en Nienke with their staff of 10 persons strong, with all different nationalities, try to make your wishes come true. If it is reasonable it probably will. Let me introduce you to the staff. It is divided in 3 groups. First is the day shift: the leader of the day is Nienke, she is the co-owner and she will take you in and she will introduce you to the facilities at Zorbas Island. You can ask her any question you want; she will try to help you as good as she can.
Together with Nienke, Tina is also the host because Nienke also has to do the administrative work. Tina is the newest to the Zorbas pack, but that does not mean she cannot handle the pressure in the catering industry, she will help you any time she can. Then you have Rena she is in charge of the snacks and beverages, if you want something order it at the bar and she will make a delicious meal/snack/ drink. Last but not least on the day shift is Eleni, she is in charge of the interior of the apartments.
That is all for the day shift, now we go to the night shift starting with Joery. Joery is bartender and assistant manager. Next to him there is the German entertainer Andre. Last in the night shift is Helen a.k.a. ‘The Kitchen Boss,’ she makes your dinner for you if you eat at Zorbas. Then you have Erik and Marinos, they organize everything for the excursions, next to this Erik is also co-owner.
Talking about excursions Zorbas organizes active excursions for you to keep fit and you see something of the island as well. Examples are cooking in the mountains, hiking, which there are various hikes so you can go on different routes every time until you had every route. If you are a bit lazier, there are quad and jeep safaris. Then for the water people, there are boat excursions, diving (even for children) and snorkeling. Also they can organize some other water sports. Then as last examples: cultural excursions, slack lines, archery, cycling, beach party, bingo, facial paint and games for the kids.
